About Singapore > The Merlion

The Merlion and Merlion Walk

The Merlion – this half-lion and half-fish creature resting on a crest of waves is the most enduring symbol of Singapore. While facing the east, the statue welcomes all the tourists visiting Singapore. Although Singapore has five official statues of the Merlion but the original one is located at Merlion Park. Behind the original, stands a two meter tall cub statue at Merlion Park. To get an idea about the depth of sea, you are suggested to take a walk around on Merion Walk which is a 120-metre long mosaic walkway at the back of The Merlion.

Besides these, one statue is at the tourism court in Tanglin, one at Mount faber and one at Sentosa. The statue at Sentosa is a taller replica of the original statue.

Standing at the Merlion and viewing around you get a beautiful view of southern shores surrounding the Sentosa Island and the impressive skyline of Singapore. To make your visit fresh and lively in your mind, do not miss to get a souvenir of Singapore, from the Merlion Shop.
